Phnom Penh - Battambang - Phnom Penh

As we approach the charming riverside town of Battambang you will be able to experience the many different sides of Cambodian culture and cuisine!

Travel from Phnom Penh through the lush Cambodian countryside to Battambang. Although it is the country's second largest city, Battambang feels world's away from the capital as it is exudes a relaxed, friendly ambiance. Upon arrival, we check into a lovely colonial-style hotel There will be time to  take a stroll through the town and enjoy a fine Khmer meal.

Spend a full day exploring Battambang and its surroundings starting at Phnom Sampeau, a hilltop temple with spectacularly views of the landscape. We will travel through through the Cambodian countryside which includes world-famous fruit orchards, stopping along the way  to taste the local delicacies, before reaching Wat Banan. (The term "wat" refers to a temple complex).



Riding on the  local  'bamboo train' is an experience you won't soon forget and your views of the vast rice areas are stunning. We will visit small villages which specialize in the production of rice paper, fish paste ( Cambodian "must" for Khmer chefs), traditional snacks and woven textiles.  After a full day of touring we will return to town for dinner.
While in Battambang, you will stay at La Villa, a charming colonial boutique hotel which was restored in the early 1930s.  No other town in Cambodia allows you to get the full flavor of our treasured Cambodia.

Day 1 - Phnom Penh - Battambang (D)
Leaving Phnom Penh by road arriving in the afternoon in Battambang which is a charming riverside town full of French-colonial architecture. Even though Battambang is Cambodia's second largest city, you will find that the atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly much like Phnom Penh, the capital city. Relax and enjoy dinner at your hotel this evening.

Overnight in Battambang.

Day 2 - Battambang (B,D)
Spend today exploring Battambang's countryside, an honest experience of the natural beauty and traditional lifestyle common in rural Cambodia. Travel out to Phnom Sampeau, once home to the notorious killing caves, but now a tranquil place for viewing the surrounding landscape. Continue through fruit plantations to the hilltop temple of Wat Banan ( the term "wat" refers to a temple complex) followed by an exciting ride on the local bamboo train. This afternoon, we travel through the countryside to visit cottage i
ndustries like rice paper production, weaving centers and even a fish paste factory (no respecting Khmer chef would be without it). Return to town this evening for an authentic local dinner at the town's best restaurant.

Day 3 - Battambang - Phnom Penh - Departure (B)
This morning, enjoy some time to relax at the hotel or discover Battambang on your own until your return transfer to Phnom Penh or onwards to Siem Reap.
