Siem Reap

The long and rich history of Cambodia is found in its political and religious roots and is exemplified in the temples that survive to this day.  Not all of them are in wonderful repair, but it can not go unnoticed what a magnificent legacy has been left to Cambodians living in the 21st century. Each tells a story of courage, survival, deeply held religious convictions and quite simply gorgeous architecture.

This tour has been specifically designed to meet the needs of travelers who want to experience in a short amount of time, our cultural heritage while relaxing in a first-rate hotel in comfort and luxury. In the space of four days, you will quickly discover Cambodia's most spectacular historical sights while staying in our country's best hotels.

We begin where it all began, the ancient city of Angkor Thom. The temples in the city landscape date from the "Angkor era" from about 893 A.D. Among the many temples, you will soon discover what will be the most glorious of them all, Angkor Wat (the word "wat" refers to a temple complex of various buildings as well as the temple itself). It origins lie in the 12th century and has been compared to the magnificent cathedral at Chartres, France. Angkor Wat was first dedicated as a Hindu place of worship but soon it became a Buddhist one. It is considered the largest religious structure in the world. Today, worship in the temple is still conducted by our Hindu brothers and sisters.

There is more!  One of the most lovely of all temples, Banteay Srey, dates from  967 AD and is in near perfect condition,  The intricate detailing that embrace Banteay Srey's walls is a sight you would not want to miss.

The final day of the tour will give you a chance to see a traditional floating village on Lake Tanle Sap, Asia's largest freshwater lake, before a final bit of shopping and the transfer back to the airport, ending what we are sure will be an unforgettable experience.

Day 1 - Arrive Siem Reap
when you arrive in Siem Reap, be prepared to discover the justly fabled temples of Angkor and the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire. We begin at the beginning where the Khmer kingdom reached its glory at the city of Angkor Thom. A huge wall  surrounds this ancient city which was established under the glorious reign  of Jayavarman VII. From here you continue to the Bayon Temple and the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. As we conclude of day we will visit a local temple and receive a private blessing from a Buddhist monk, a special and memorable occasion.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 2 - Siem Reap (B)
The early Angkor-era temples of the Roluos is the site of where the first town was established  by the kings of Cambodia. The glory of the Bangkong temple, built in 881 AD by King Indravarman I, and the remains of one of the most ambitious temple,  Lolei,  are here. In the afternoon we will explore the temples of the "Small Circuit" ( a group of temples that exist near the town). Ah! Ta Prohm! This extraordinary temple was built between the mid 12th and early 13th centuries and is overgrown with jungle trees and vines, with many parts of the temple crumbling to the ground making for a truly memorable site. Check out "Lara Croft, Tomb Raider" for a glimpse of what you will see. Your visit will also include Banteay Kdei, a Buddhist monastery from the late 12th Century, and Srah Srang, also known as the 'pool of ablutions'.

Overnight in Siem Reap.

Day 3 - Siem Reap (B)
We will enjoy breakfast before visiting the Banteay Srey and Banteay Samre. Banteay Srey is not only one of the smallest examples of Khmer architecture but is also one of the most beautiful, showcasing the most exquisite, deep and complex carvings in all Khmer architecture. Our return to Siem Reap will include a visit to Banteay Samre, on the eastern edge of the Angkor complex and a local village to see the production of rice paper and palm wine. In the afternoon we won't forget to  visit the biggest religious temple in the world - the magnificent Angkor Wat (the word "wat" means a complex of buildings including the temple itself). It was established by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century, Angkor Wat is considered a masterpiece of Khmer architecture and has been compared to the glorious cathedral at Chartres, France.
