Siem Reap

Angkor Wat is one of the most famous and recognizable monuments in the world. It is the largest religious structure in the world and has been often compared to the majesty and mystery of the cathedral at Chartres, France. This famous Hindu-Buddhist temple is not the only wonderful thing that you will see on this four-day adventure, however.

Angkor was at one time the heart of the most powerful and advanced civilizations in Southeast Asia. It stands at the apex of Khmer culture but was abandoned in the 15th century only to be rediscovered in the 17th century. The temple was quickly enveloped by the jungle, but remained as a site of pilgrimage and is still used today for a place of worship by our Hindu brothers and sisters.

Our expert English-speaking guide(s) will help you discover and unlock some of the mysteries that surround the temple. You will also discover many other examples of the Khmer empire as we visit other important sites. There are many treasures to be discovered that are off the tourist track. The chiseled stone "portraits" of Bayon, the jungle-covered Banteay Srei and, of course there is Ta Phrom. You can see what is in store for you if you watch the film, "Lara Croft, Tomb Raider".  There are some thrilling shots of Ta Phrom which will only whet your appetite to see the real thing. We will also boat on the Tonle Sap Lake, which is the largest freshwater lake in So. E. Asia. Flooded forests, floating "towns" (and even a floating church!) will surprise and delight you.

In the evenings, you'll return to your luxurious room at the The Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor, world-famous for its luxury, service and famous visitors such as Jackie Kennedy.

We are experts in travel planning. You ask we do.
